Randy Koons currently lives with his wife in Troy, New Hampshire, USA working from his home as a proposal and technical writer, creative writer, and blogger. Randy has facilitated the Keene, NH Public Library Writers Group for fiction and memoir since 2013.
In addition to writing, Randy has worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, art director, underground copper miner, lumberjack, maintenance man, computer graphics animator, and visual effects and simulation designer between 1971 and 2008. In the late 1980s he worked at IBM’s T.J. Watson Computer Science Research Center in Hawthorne, NY where he contributed to projects developing multimedia and advanced digital editing and effects tools. In the late 1990s he also helped design a computer-based incident simulator for training first responder commanders at the National Fire Academy.
Randy has published and presented a number of peer reviewed technical papers in the US and Europe on simulation, digital editing, and training; and has won awards for multimedia and special effects. He has recently published an essay and short story.
After many years of technical writing, Randy is working on memoir and speculative fiction.
